Thumblini & The Boothbay Beauty

When we entered into the adoption process, we could never have guessed how many wonderful things would happen to us. Certainly, nothing can top the experiences of meeting our daughter and bringing her home for good. She is quite spectacular and she has brightened our lives in ways we could never have imagined possible. We just could not have anticipated the other things, like the powerful life-changing impact of meeting other Kaz-adoptive families.

This past weekend, we had the opportunity to spend time with the Boothbay Gang. To think that we almost missed the chance to know and love this family - it is too horrible to imagine! We only discovered their blog during our last week in Semey - just as they were preparing to leave Astana with their precious daughter, (hereafter known as...) Beauty.

Fortunately, we all found ourselves stuck in Almaty together (which, at the time felt only frustrating and nerve-wracking) and so we spent a few days getting to know one another - and had a great time. We even shared a gloriously fun Christmas Eve at the Hilton.

So, although we were seriously grieving the loss of our sweet doggy this weekend, we ventured out to the Cape to meet up with the Boothbay Gang and boy are we glad we did. It was a short visit, but it was full and fulfilling. They are very special people, and the bond we all share is profound.

We look forward to seeing them all again - we are even considering crashing Kazapalooza in June because it just really is that special to connect with families who have gone through what we have gone through.

One last thing: Thank you all for the tremendous outpouring of support about our loss. It helps a lot to know you are all out there caring so much for us. We are grateful.

Oh yippee! I haven't had the chance to be first poster in a long time. The pictures are fabulous - simply wonderful to see the bond between T and B and to read about the parental connection, too. I vote that you should crash Kazapalooza in Chicago and at the same time give Great Nana a chance to meet T! Who knows, maybe we'd even try to find a way there too. :)

aww, what beautiful little girls!! I love the bond we can have as AP's, unless you have been there you don't understand, no one else "gets" the process of it all.
We are planning on being at Kazapalooza, it would be great to meet you. :)

Ok so now I am jealous that you guys get to hang out. I hope that someday we can all get together and hang out. The girls are getting so big and they look so sweet. What a wonderful friendship they have, a great way for them to keep their Kaz connection.

Glad to see it looks like the weather is getting nicer, maybe Spring has sprung? I must say our weather has been fabulous, no complaints here.

awww CM ...love the adorable photos of beauty and T. So cute!! I also saw them on beauty's blog.
WHAT DARLING LIL GIRLS! I have so enjoyed both of your blogs. We haven't even met your child yet, and there is a chance we may never, due to some laws in Kaz about age, BUT, no matter what happens, I will always be grateful for just the wonderful people i've connected with via the internet. I never imagined i'd meet so many fabulous people and what a great support system.
That being said, the bond of having actually met the people in REAL HONEST TO GOODNESS LIFE after you have both been thru the experience and have your beauties with you, i can't evenimagine.

It was a pefect way to celebrate Holly's life-with 2 beauty's and their ultra cool parents "sitting at the dock of the bay"

The munchkins are SO ADORABLE i can hardly stand it. :)

What beautiful little girls. They're both Beauties! :-)

I'm so glad you guys were able to spend some time with close friends during this time. Isn't it funny how things just worked out so we weren't alone? Kinda nice how life just works out at times.

Crashing Kazapalooza?! What a great idea! When it was being planned I was WAY overwhelmed with new motherhood. Hmm... this is an idea that merits further pondering!

Love to all!

I just checked out Kjersten and Steve's blog and it looked like you all had a great time. And your daughter looked just adorable in her little beach outfits. How lucky to have met friends for life during this journey! I am so disappointed that our lengthy wait will prevent us from attending Kazapalooza this year. I was so looking forward to meeting such a wonderful group of people who I feel I already know so well from following their journeys. Hopefully we can get together the same crowd plus newbies for the next year. I've already volunteered to help organize it!

If you want to contact me about Kazapalooza we may be able to work something out. I am the chair this year. You do not have to crash.

Hello dear friends,
You got some great photos of the girls together. I love looking at the shots of the two of them. Anxious for more : )

I can't get enough photos of these BEAUTIES together. You guys were so fortunate to have hooked up in Kaz, especially because I suspect that even without having shared this adoption experience you guys would have a lot in common anyway. Please be thinking of us while you are at Kazapalooza. We are soooo there next year, but this time we should (HOPEFULLY) just be heading to Almaty for the final leg of our own Kaz tour.
