Banana Kisses

Boy does she love bananas. As much as we know she loves bananas, we were still holding out hope that her first word would be "mama" or "dada." Instead, our little monkey pointed at the luscious yellow fruit (which comes in its own wrapping, no less) and squealed: "ANANA!" This was independently confirmed by a research team several times over the next few days - no coincidence, her first word was a fruit.

Now DocDad and CurlyMom are jockeying for Second Place.

HOWEVER, bananas get eaten and turned into little girls. DD and CM get KISSES from the baby. That's right, just the other day, Thumblini turned her head, mouth in a perfect "o" and leaned in for a kiss from CM. THEN she turned with the same little (banana covered?) "o" and leaned in for a kiss from her daddy. If you happened to see that shooting star in the middle of the day (Eastern), that was us. Many more (self-initiated) kisses followed. Astronomers likened the atmospheric phenomena to the Leonid Meteor shower for its volume and sparkling brightness.

Wow, she speaks! That's an interesting first word. I'm impressed.

Even though it seems impossible, Thumblini is getting cuter and cuter with each post.

Glad you're enjoying your "anana" kisses!

That is so cute. Just think - something you can tease her about when she's a teenager! I love that grin in the last photo. She's so adorable!

sooooo sooooo sweet. It should be easy for her to pick up "Nana" now!
But I will graciously wait to be indulged 'til she has Mommy and Daddy down pat - you deserve it!

AWWWW! How adorable! If it makes you feel any better, I think Luca's first word was "cat" then "mema" (banana) which morphed into "bmema" later. He didn't say our names until MUCH later. We reassured ourselves by saying that we are with him all the time - why would he need to call us?

Now he says some form of "Mom" at least 60 times a day.

What a smile Thumblini has! She looks so happy!

Ooh kissess!! My favorite!! They are the magic fairy dust of parenting, aren't they?

Gigi's most commonly used word nowadays is "Uh oh!!" Hmm... I'm not sure whether to be worried or smile every time I hear it.

As always, she is so adorable. I can see the differences in each post. Amazing!

She is precious, and i htink you need to play her Gwen Stephanie's song..HOLLABACK GIRL.

the SHIP is banana's
B-A-N-A-N-A'S
THEN, she can also learn to spell her first world rather quickly.

I did see that shooting star.
I think i'd take a nana kiss over her saying momma or dada . :)
i mean, she WILL say momma or daddy soon enough...but until then....

play her some HOLLABACK GIRL!
B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

I actually did see not only a shooting star at that exact time, but it was followed by a rainbow and a chorus of birds chirping. Was all that caused by those kisses? AWESOME!

Now that is a very impressive, 50 cent word for a first word! Three syllables even! A sure sign that she is an utter genius ... in addition to being drop dead gorgeous. Talk about having the whole package.

Banana kisses and stardust. That's what I call a good day. :-)
